What can I cut out of my weekly schedule in order to increase my efficiency? This means what can I get rid of so that I do better at what I am slacking at. This might include video games, toys, TV, etc. For me, what I am slacking at is my school, cleaning the house and chores and what I probably need to get rid of is TV and LEGOs. We watch TV with lunch every day for about an hour and a half. If I cut back on TV with lunch and eat a five minute lunch than I can get back to school faster and I can get done with school faster. I can watch TV later in the day.

The other thing I need to cut back on are LEGOs. LEGOs are my favorite toys, but they cause to many distractions. When I am cleaning the house I always get distracted by LEGOs and my parents yell at me to get back to work, and I do not like getting yelled at, so I really need to cut back a little on LEGOs. I also get distracted by LEGOs when I am doing chores. In this house, chores are very important (if you saw our house you would agree). And if my parents catch me playing with LEGOs they would be yelling at me to get back to work. What I need to do is I need to cut back on LEGOs a lot if I do not want to get yelled at anymore.

Α”The Breakthrough Principle of 16X” is a book that tells you how to get 16 times better at what you are already good at (that is what the 16X stands for). The book begins with a brief history about how the 16X principle (also known as the 80/20 principle) was made. It also tells  you the 10 greatest business ideas of all time. I will be talking about my top two favorites.

The first one is Low Cost Volume. Low Cost Volume means to be the cheapest. Now, you might be thinking, “But if your products are cheap, than how will you get enough money to live?” Well, the answer is to sell a lot of what you are currently selling. If you sell a lot of what you are currently selling, than you will get as much money as if you were not selling it for a cheap price, you may even get more money. Remember that these are the greatest business ideas of all time.

The other idea that I really like is Build on Your Strengths. That means to make your best attributes even stronger. So it basically means to get better at what you are already good at. If you are really good at something, but you want to be like really good at something else because you see this guy making a lot of money doing his job and you want to make a lot of money to, do not switch jobs. You will waste a lot of money and time. All you have to do is get better at what you are already good at.

The other ideas are Market Leadership, Delegate, Self-Service, Subtract Something, Create a New Niche Category, Personalize, Do It Faster, and Do It Smaller. This is a great book. You should really try reading it.

Why shouldn’t I borrow to buy something that depreciates? Depreciate means something goes down in value. So, why shouldn’t I borrow money to buy something that goes down in value? Because, if something is fifty dollars that you really want, and you wait for a month to get it, it may be forty dollars then, and you just saved ten dollars. Now, lets say you really want a car and the car is seventy five thousand dollars and you do not have the money. So you decide to borrow money from your parents and you buy the car. Six months have gone by and you are still trying to pay back your parents for the car. You soon find out that the car you had just bought hade gone down twenty thousand dollars and you realize that it would have just been better if you had waited have a year to get the car and you would have to pay your parents less for the car. Same thing with toys. If you see a toy that you really want and you buy it. after a month, you are walking through that same store down that same aisle and you see that same toy you saw a month ago and you realize that it hade a “HALF OFF” sign. If you had just waited for a month to buy it, than you would have saved half of you money. So remember, if you see something that you want to buy, wait a month or two to buy it, and maybe you could save a lot of money.

I do not currently have an income, but lets imagine for a moment that I do. Lets say that I make two hundred dollars a week. That is eight hundred dollars a month. That is nine thousand six hundred dollars a year. I live with my parents so I have very little expense. I imagine my personal expenses would be gas for my car, car payments, phone charges, my own toiletries, and maybe the the occasional night out with friends. But now I am saving up my money for college. I decide to save ten percent of my income which is twenty dollars out of what I earn every week. If I save twenty dollars a week, than that means in one month I would have saved eighty dollars a month. If I save eighty dollars a month, than that means in one year I would have saved nine hundred and sixty dollars.

This is the hard part. What do I give up in order to begin saving ten percent of my income every week? I could save money on gas by not driving as much. I can not really save money on car payments because those are set in stone. I have to pay those. Phone charges are also set in stone, but if I use it less, than I can pay less. There are tons of ways to save on toiletries. Here are a few. You could share with somebody, you could use it less, you could shop at cheaper stores, etc. The biggest way I could save money is if I did not go out with friends as much. And in a few years, I can go to college.

The average American watches four hours of TV every day. This means that nearly 20% of your entire day is spent on watching television! Is it worth it? Twenty five years ago when my parents where kids, the only way you could watch TV is if you where literally sitting in front of the TV. This is not the case today. There are several different ways that we are able two watch TV today. Some of the ways are on your TV, on your phone, on your tablet, and the computer. So as you can see, ease with which you can watch TV has really improved. The ability to watch TV on even more devices and with much more ease does not make it acceptable to watch more TV. I only watch TV for one and a half hours each day.

Is there anything wrong with watching TV? Well, no. There is nothing wrong with watching TV. There is some pretty decent stuff on TV. However, it does become a problem when you begin watching TV more than living your every day life.

How much money won’t I have at age 70 if I keep watching TV? Well, I am 12 years old. The current minimum wage in Illinois is $9.25 an hour. If I work for one day I’ll have made $37.00. Let’s say I work 4 hours every day, for 5 days every week. That means I will have earned $185.00. If I work every week for 1 entire year, I will have earned $9,620.00. Finally if I work until I’m 70, that is 58 years of working, and by then I will have earned $557,960.00! This is how much money I will NOT have if I instead choose to watch television for 4 hours every day. So no, watching TV is not worth it.
