What is the view of the biblical materials on the role of ethics in the development of history? Well that is what I am going to be talking about in this essay. In the Bible, there are several biblical views that are present in  ethics that are in history to this day. These views are present throughout the entire Bible. For example, If you feel stressed remember this verse: ” Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4. Another one is about love: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” – Corinthians 13:4-5. There are many other verses that people use to get them through the day.

A lot of Bible verses all contain one specific theme. According to ethics, sanctions will be given. If the person (the one who the sanctions are being given to) wants good sanctions, he must obey God’s law and do good. This way he gets good sanctions. If he does the opposite of this than he will receive bad sanctions, and nobody likes bad sanctions. Sanctions, good or bad, are determined on what you do, what you think, what you say, etc. People can choose whether they live a good life or a bad one. It is their decision. Nobody can make them change. Not even God can make them change, but he knows the outcome, and it either good or bad. Lets hope that it’s good. It has been a thing that has remained constant throughout all of history.

A life of wisdom and righteousness eventually leads to good sanctions and a life of evil and wickedness eventually leads to bad sanctions. It a life of wisdom and righteousness eventually leads to good sanctions and a life of evil and wickedness eventually leads to bad sanctions, then why do people still do wicked things if it brings them bad sanctions? Well, people delight in wicked things and they do not care about the sanctions. If they do know about the sanctions though then again, why do they still do it? Because, once they have been exposed to a bad thing, and the become addicted to it, they lose sight of the sanctions. They do not care about it any more. They like the bad things that they are exposed to so much, that they lose sight of Godly things.

A good sanction used in the Bible was when God gave Noah the instructions to build the ark because they were good to God and served him. There are many other good and bad sanctions used in the Bible. A bad one was when David took Bathsheba for his wife then killed her husband. Because of this God killed David’s first son. Sanctions can be good or bad. I hope you get a good one.

The main reason for the Persian War was because of King Darius of Persia wanted to expand his empire. The first time Persia invaded Greece, began in 492 BC. That’s when the war started. Late into the war, the Persians suffered a great defeat at the Battle of Salamis and the Battle of Plataea. Before that it seemed like the Persians would win the war, but Greece eventually won the war. Nobody knows what would have happened if the Persians won. The war is significant because the war ended with a Persian defeat in 490 BC.

The Peloponnesian War started with Sparta’s fear of Athens getting strong (because they were already a very strong nation) and overthrowing them. The war started in 431 BC beginning with Sparta starting a war with Athens. Sparta eventually won and then they became the strongest nation. Well, there were a few little wars between different nations competing for the strongest nation, but then they eventually became exhausted and they all gave up.

These subjects, cash and accrual accounting, are very different from each other. In this essay, I will say in what way that they are different. The cash method is a more immediate recognition of revenue and expenses. The accrual method focuses on anticipated revenue and expenses.

The cash method is when you have a notebook or a folder or anything that you keep track of stuff in and you write down when you received cash, how much cash you received, etc. You also write down when you send out cash, how much cash you send out, etc. It’s pretty simple. According to Accounting Made Simple by Mike Piper, “The problem with the cash method, however, is that it doesn’t always reflect the economic reality of a situation.” This method is used mostly by businesses that are small and for personal finances.

“The accrual method records revenue when a product or service is delivered to a customer with the expectation that money will be paid in the future.” according to Investopedia. So the accrual method (with a lot of descriptiveness) records money generated from normal business operations when a system supplying a public need is delivered to the person who needs it with the expectation that money will be paid later on in the future. The problem with this method is that it does not track cash flow.

If you are starting a business than I suggest that you use the cash method. As your business grows than you should change to the accrual method. Maybe you can even use both methods at the same time!

In the book of Proverbs there is a strong relationship between ethics and sanctions. Most of the Proverbs were written by the son of David, Solomon. In Proverbs, the first nine chapters have an introduction. This is not seen in any other book in the entire Bible. In the introductions of Proverbs it is extremely clear that Solomon is talking and giving instruction to his son. An example of one of these introductions is Proverbs 1:1-6,

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

for gaining wisdom and instruction;
    for understanding words of insight;
for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
    doing what is right and just and fair;
for giving prudence to those who are simple,
    knowledge and discretion to the young—
let the wise listen and add to their learning,
    and let the discerning get guidance—
for understanding proverbs and parables,
    the sayings and riddles of the wise.

In Proverbs wisdom is described as a female. An example for this is Proverbs 8:1-6,

Does not wisdom call out?
    Does not understanding raise her voice?
At the highest point along the way,
    where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gate leading into the city,
    at the entrance, she cries aloud:
“To you, O people, I call out;
    I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are simple, gain prudence;
    you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.
Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say;
    I open my lips to speak what is right.

Wickedness is also described as a female. In Proverbs 5:1-6,

My son, pay attention to my wisdom,
    turn your ear to my words of insight,
that you may maintain discretion
    and your lips may preserve knowledge.
For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
    and her speech is smoother than oil;
but in the end she is bitter as gall,
    sharp as a double-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death;
    her steps lead straight to the grave.
She gives no thought to the way of life;
    her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

In Proverbs wickedness is defined as the “strange woman”. Solomon is teaching his son not to go down the path of wickedness. He tells his son a story of a man who was walking on a road then a woman (wickedness) came out to meet him. She tells him that she wants him and she entices him to follow her back to her house. He follows because of what she said and when they get to her house she kills him. You can find this story in Proverbs 7.

My favorite verses in the Bible are in Proverbs. It is Proverbs 6:6-8,

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

These verses talk about not being lazy.

The relationship between ethics and sanctions is very significant in Proverbs. It is also very powerful.

Aristotle was a great Greek philosopher and polymath and is known for being the one of the greatest philosophers to ever live. He is also famous for being the first genuine scientist in history. Aristotle was born 384 BC and died 322 BC. He was a student in Plato’s Academy for twenty years. He even founded his own school where he spent most of his life teaching, studying, and writing.

Sparta I would say is a city-state obsessed with war. You will soon see why. Spartan boys grew up until they were about seven years old. When they were seven then they were taken away for thirteen years to grow up to become soldiers. Once twenty years old they were allowed to get married, however, they could not see their wives and they had to live in barracks for the next ten years. When they were thirty years old then they could be a real citizen. The girls were left at home to learn to do cooking, cleaning, etc. The boys and girls at in different areas. Girls ate at home and the boys ate at public mess halls. The mess halls gave very gross and icky food. Some food even had blood in it! The Spartan’s were very unusual people.

Fire Ranger

The following are three instances of fire in the Bible. In Deuteronomy 4:24 it mentions God as a consuming fire. As mentioned in Mark 9:43 it mentions to Hell as the unquenchable fire. In Zachariah 2:5 it talks about God being a wall of fire all around someone.

How is fire a curse and a blessing to mankind? Fire can help us cook stuff, get rid of stuff we don’t want, and keep us warm. It can also help us by providing light and keeping away unwanted bugs.

God uses fire to describe His presence in Hebrews 12:29. In that passage God is considered a consuming fire. In 1 Kings 18:38 God sent fire from Heaven and consumed an offering.

Man’s ability to start, sustain, and control fire changed the world by we can kill the bad things that are found in food. We can also be harmed by fire. There can be forest fires that can destroy entire forest’s and houses. Do not play with fire.

According to Wikipedia, optimism is ” an attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of some specific endeavor, or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable.” So optimism is basically a hopeful mode that you are in when there is little hope about something that you are hopeful about. There are actually ten psalms about hope. One is Psalms 34:17-20:

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,
and rescues them from all their troubles.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted,
and saves the crushed in spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord rescues them from them all.

He keeps all their bones;
not one of them will be broken.

One more is Psalms 121:1-2;7-8:

I raise my eyes toward the mountains.
From whence shall come my help?

My help comes from the Lord,
the maker of heaven and earth…

The Lord will guard you from all evil;
He will guard your soul.

The Lord will guard your coming and going
both now and forever.

Some of the reasons offered in the Psalms for long-term optimism are when David is asking God for help from his enemies. In Psalms 59:

1  Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;

protect me from those who rise up against me;

 2  deliver me from those who work evil,

and save me from bloodthirsty men.

 3  For behold, they lie in wait for my life;

fierce men stir up strife against me.

For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,

 4  for no fault of mine, they run and make ready.

Awake, come to meet me, and see!

 5  You, Lord God of hosts, are God of Israel.

Rouse yourself to punish all the nations;

spare none of those who treacherously plot evil. Selah

 6  Each evening they come back,

howling like dogs

and prowling about the city.

 7  There they are, bellowing with their mouths

with swords in their lips—

for “Who,” they think, “will hear us?”

 8  But you, O Lord, laugh at them;

you hold all the nations in derision.

 9  O my Strength, I will watch for you,

for you, O God, are my fortress.

 10  My God in his steadfast love will meet me;

God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.

 11  Kill them not, lest my people forget;

make them totter by your power and bring them down,

O Lord, our shield!

 12  For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips,

let them be trapped in their pride.

For the cursing and lies that they utter,

 13  consume them in wrath;

consume them till they are no more,

that they may know that God rules over Jacob

to the ends of the earth. Selah

 14  Each evening they come back,

howling like dogs

and prowling about the city.

 15  They wander about for food

and growl if they do not get their fill.

 16  But I will sing of your strength;

I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.

For you have been to me a fortress

and a refuge in the day of my distress.

 17  O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,

for you, O God, are my fortress,

the God who shows me steadfast love.

In Psalms by David, you can see that in most of them David is asking God for protection. In some David is asking God for forgiveness. And in many of them, you can see that David is very optimistic in a lot of them.

Product-based companies are companies that sell products. Products are like things that you use in your every day lives (and no, food does not count). These types of products can be toys, clothes, cooking utensils, etc. Examples of product-based companies are Target, Walmart, Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Google, etc. In this essay I am going to tell you my top four favorite product based companies and why I like them.

#4. Walmart. Walmart is great. It has hundreds of products that we use, like shoes. Every time me and my brothers need new shoes we always go to Walmart to get new shoes. Everything there is somewhat cheap.

#3. Target. Target is a great place to go if you need stuff for cats and dogs, an amazing place to get a present or a card for someone, and me and my family just love it. Every time we need to get camping supplies or makeup (for mom) or just a present, we go there.

#2. Amazon. Amazon is an epic place to go on the internet if you want to get something that does not sell in stores. My parents use it all the time if they want to get me a book for school, and you can type up the product you want on Amazon search and it goes straight to it! You can even buy things that are out of stock.

#1. Google. Google is the greatest. I use it all the time. People use it to search up information on the internet. It is also extremely popular for a lot of people. I use it every day for school purposes. It really helps.

Plato

Plato was an extraordinary philosopher who loved to gain wisdom and use it. He created an allegory called “The Allegory of the Cave”. we will be talking about it and also about philosopher kings.

According to Philosophyzer, The Allegory of the Cave is a theory that Plato created, concerning human perception. “Plato claimed that knowledge gained through the senses is no more than opinion and that, in order to have real knowledge, we must gain it through philosophical reasoning.” The point in this allegory is involved in the link above.

According to Wikipedia, a philosopher king is a ruler like a king or president or a mayor, anybody who is in power who loves wisdom who is smart, and has a willingness to live a simple life. So a philosopher king is anybody who is in some sort of power who loves wisdom.

 Psalms is a book located in the Bible. It is the longest book in the Bible and it also has the longest and shortest chapters in the Bible. Psalms is entirely made out of one-hundred and fifty songs and praises. Most of the songs and praises in Psalms were written by the famous King David (the one who killed Goliath). Many Psalms were turned into hymns that we use today. Although Psalms is fun to read and look at, you really need to focus on it and pay attention to it to actually understand Psalms and figure out what it means. Many people think of the Psalms as a group of poetic phrases for entertainment or to read just for fun or something to read to sooth them, but that is not just the only reasons of Psalms. This book gives us an extremely important poetic concept between human beings and God.

 An obvious theme in Psalms is God blessing and protecting the righteous and Godly and God hating and disliking the unrighteous and ungodly. Because of the obedience, Godliness, and faith of man God inflicted extremely good sanctions on Godly men. He protected them from all evil. However, God cursed the wicked and ungodly men because of their unwillingness to serve and follow God. If you read the Psalms then you will see that the Psalms has multiple chapters mainly based on that one theme.

The Psalms (as you may have guessed) are not historical writings. They are meant for an entirely different purpose. If you think about it, it is like the Psalms is written directly to you, which of course I think it is. David wrote a lot of these Psalms and he even put some of his own songs in Psalms and he even filled his Psalms with knowledge and wisdom and he even made them meaningful in many different ways. The Psalms can also help us physically and mentally, as in, it can sooth us, it can teach us to grow as Godly men, it can help lead us in the right direction spiritually, and it can even help us with our walk with God. My favorite Psalms, Psalms 23, goes like this:

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalms is a very good book from the Bible and it is one of my favorites. If you have not read it yet than I encourage you to read it.
